The previous generation had John F. Kennedy's assassination. We had John Lennon being murdered. Senseless. Disgusting. Appalling. Nauseating. How can something like that have happened?

I think I was in the 7th Grade when it happened...
To me today'll always mean "One Down, Three To Go"

Thirty years and I still feel this loss more than any of the others. Joe Strummer, Jerry Garcia, Miles Davis, even Johnny Cash - none feels as big or as stupid a loss as this one.
the stupidity and the senselessness of the Lennon murder is so much more heinous than any other r n r death. it wasn't due to drugs or age or accident. Just sheer brutality.
